5 must-visit brunch spots in Montreal

Last update : April, 25, 2024.

If you’re looking for a place to enjoy a delicious brunch in Montreal, you’ve come to the right place. In fact, I’ve tested out a number of brunch spots, and I’ve put together a selection of my 5 must-try addresses for a memorable brunch in Montreal. Whether you’re looking for a trendy place to grab a coffee, or a more casual place to spend time with family or friends, you’ll find suggestions for every taste.

1. Bloomfield - Outremont

Bloomfield

Brunch at Bloomfield on Van Horne Avenue is a real treat for the taste buds. This restau-bistro offers seasonal cuisine, and its brunch options are simply delicious. I recommend the Jerusalem platter for two (Baba ghanoush, carrot moutabal, muhammara, hummus, grilled halloumi, pita, …). Admittedly, it’s a very different brunch from the classic eggs, bacon and potatoes, but it’s well worth the detour. Otherwise, don’t miss the French toast and the avocado tartine.
My advice: book in advance, as places are limited.

2. Antipode - Le Plateau Mont-Royal

Antipode Mtl

Antipode – If you’re looking for a tasty brunch with a relaxed atmosphere, Antipode on Rue Laurier is the place for you. This restaurant offers vegetarian options and original dishes, not to mention their creative lattes. I recommend their brunch menu with a wild mushroom poêlée and a red fruit smoothie bowl.
My advice: you’re here to try new things, so I recommend you try the lavender or pistachio lattes.

3. Piel Canela - Le Plateau Mont-Royal

Piel Canela Brunch Montréal

This new Montreal brunch spot is fast becoming a must! At Piel Canela, you’ll discover a new culinary experience featuring the flavors of Latin America.

An exotic, revisited menu.
If you thought you were eating traditional eggs-bacon-and-potatoes, you’ve come to the wrong place. Here, Mexican chef Karl Guzman brings you a whole new brunch experience, with a menu inspired by the whole of Latin America and dishes from the Land, Sea and Garden.

As a brunch lover myself, I can tell you that I was impressed by the quality of the ingredients, the flavors, the quantities, and the culinary works of art on my plate.

4. Janine Café - Verdun

Brunch au Janine Café Verdun

Some call it the Decadent Brunch, and if you go, you’ll quickly understand why. Indeed, you only have to delve into the menu to understand. For example, French toast with aged cheddar, flaked ham, eggs and cream sugar, or French toast with cherry and almond jam, mascarpone cream, berries and caramelized cashews. Quite honestly, it’s a brunch you won’t forget. Finally, what can I say about the atmosphere! The decor is reminiscent of a chic London tearoom.
My advice: this is one of the best brunches in town, so book ahead.

4. Salon de Thé Cardinal - Le Mile End

Located on Boulevard Saint-Laurent, Salon de Thé Cardinal is a veritable institution, and the ideal place for a relaxing gourmet break. The menu is served in crockery found in antique shops or flea markets. You’ll also be surrounded by objects that represent 1920s art deco. The establishment offers a wide variety of teas and delicious pastries, all in a warm and friendly atmosphere. A visit is a must!
